Bicycling
Cooley Landing to Sunnyvale Baylands Park
Pedal nearly 15 miles on mostly natural surface trail and experience the outer edges of the bay connected by shoreline park jewels in East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale.
Birding
Palo Alto Baylands Preserve
This well-established preserve is one of the best bird-watching destinations in the Bay Area. The marshlands are host to a sizable local population of shorebirds and a migratory stopover on the Pacific Flyway.
Dogs
Shoreline at Mountain View Dog Park
Designed by dog owners, this park provides dogs with an opportunity to run and play off leash. The park is located on the corner of Shoreline Boulevard and North Road, just before the entrance to Shoreline Park (which does not allow dogs).
Picnicking
Sunnyvale Baylands Park
Located right on the bay, Baylands Park offers over 70 acres of parkland dedicated to active recreation and picnicking. Two large group picnic areas can seat 325 people and four small group picnic areas each seat 60-130 people. A large grassy field, a children’s play area and miles of Bay Trail make this a popular park for family gatherings. Pets are not allowed in the park.
